There are many Pokémon moves based on Sound so why not have a type for it as well

Pokémon that are Sound Type

Pure Sound Type Pokémon

Whismur- Sound

Loudred- Sound

Exploud- Sound

Primary Sound Type Pokémon

Igglybuff- Sound/Fairy

Jigglypuff- Sound/Fairy

Wigglytuff- Sound/Fairy

Mime Jr.- Sound/Psychic

Mr. Mime- Sound/Psychic

Chimecho- Sound/Psychic

Chingling- Sound/Psychic

Chatot- Sound/Flying

Audino- Sound/Fairy

Meloetta- Sound/Psychic or Sound/Fighting

Noibat- Sound/Dragon

Kricketot- Bug/Sound

Kricketune- Bug/Sound

Litleo- Fire/Sound

Pyroar-Fire/Sound

Types weak to Sound
Fire- Pressure waves put fire out. Sound also travels faster through fire.
Fairy- Many fey creatures (specifically elves) are very distracted by any kind of music, so there is logic to Fairy being weak to it
Psychic- Loud noises can disrupt concentration

Types Sound is weak to
Flying- Most flying types have good speed- Enough speed and you can break the sound barrier
Ice- Sound has a hard time travelling through ice.
Types that resist Sound
Ice

Types that Sound resists
Fire
Ground
Psychic
Fairy
Sound- Sound type Pokemon are immune to Sound type moves.  Soundproof would remain an ability but only for Pokemon that are not Sound type

Sound type moves

Boomburst

Chatter

Confide

Echoed Voice

Encore

Growl

Hyper Voice

Noble Roar

Perish Song

Relic Song

Roar

Round

Screech

Sing

Snore

Sonicboom

Supersonic

Uproar

Yawn

Sound like moves that don't change

Grasswhistle- Makes more sense to be Grass type

Bug Buzz- Good Bug move

Parting Shot- Signature move of Pancham and Pangoro so its better to be Dark type

Snarl- Decent Dark type move

Belly Drum- Makes more sense to be Normal type

Disarming Voice- Makes more sense to be Fairy Type

Metal Sound- Make more sense to be Steel Type

Clanging Scales- Signature move of a Kommo-o so its better to be Dragon type

Sparkling Aria- Signature move of Primarina so its better to be Water type

Explosion and Self Destruct. While they do release pressure waves. They mainly cause damage and aren't entirely sound related. Better to be Normal type

Heal Bell- While a sound like move. It was changed to not affect soundproof so changing it to a Sound type move would make it not effect sound type Pokemon. Best to leave it as Normal type
What I think would happen if Sound were to become a type in Pokémon

Credit to Shuckster1 and UnicronWars for changes and feedback

Updated with Gen 7 information. So far only Trumbeak and Toucannon seem they would be sound type. Not sure yet if any other gen 7 Pokemon or Alolan formes would fit the Sound type

I recently discovered the discussion about giving Pokémon a Sound type, and the more I read and hear about it, the more it makes sense to me.

I like most of what you wrote here, but I disagree with a few points:

Yveltal- Dark/Sound
Yveltal is a Legendary Bird.
What makes it any more of a Sound-type than Articuno, Zapdos, Moltres, Lugia, or Ho-Oh?

(Oblivion Wing Changes to a Dark Type move since its makes more sense)
It has "Wing" in its name, so Flying makes the most sense, and I think more Flying-type Pokémon should be able to learn it in the future, especially other Legendary Birds.
Also, Fairy is resistant to Dark, so changing Oblivion Wing to Dark would hurt Yveltal in the matchup against Xerneas.

Metal Sound
Like Grass Whistle makes more sense as a Grass-type move because it's a plant-based move and it has "Grass" in its name, Metal Sound makes more sense as a Steel-type move because it's a metal-based move (the user performs it by banging and scraping pieces of metal together) and it has "Metal" in its name.
